With the resignation of Robert Mitchell as MLA for District 10 (Charlottetown-Winsloe) on September 3rd, 2020, a by-election will take place in that district within 6 months. The Green Party of Prince Edward Island is looking forward to contesting this by-election with a candidate whom the voters of District 10 can trust to represent them and make positive change in the Legislature.
The nomination application deadline is Sunday, October 4th at 12pm (noon). Please further below for more information on the nomination process.
A nomination meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 6th at 7:30pm at the Irish Cultural Centre (582 N River Rd). The proceedings will be broadcast online, with members residing in District 10 given preference for in-person participation. Any GPPEI member may register to participate via Zoom here. Any GPPEI member may also request an online ballot to participate in the nomination vote on October 6th, regardless of whether they are able to participate in the meeting in-person or online.

If you are considering putting your name forward for the Green Party nomination in Charlottetown-Winsloe, here are the steps in the nomination process:
- Write to [email protected] to request an application form - you'll receive an automatic reply with a link to download the form.
- Our Nomination Screening Committee will review your application and speak to your references.
- Once the review is complete, a report is sent to Provincial Council, which then makes the final decision about the suitability of applicants to seek a Green Party nomination based on the results of the review. Provincial Council notifies applicants of the decision, and there is an opportunity to appeal that decision if you feel that due process was not applied in the decision concerning your application.
- A nomination vote is calledGreen Party of PEI members province-wide will be eligible to participate in this ranked ballot vote. Regardless of whether the nomination is contested, members will have the option to vote "No candidate".
