District 12 Electoral District Association Founding Meeting

Since the Spring Conference of 2017, the Green Party of PEI has been working to grow and prepare for the next election, which may be in the fall of this year. The next key step in the growth of the party is the formation of an Electoral District Association (EDA) in District 12.

Following a short meeting to officially found the EDA and elect the coordinating team, we'll discuss what we as an EDA can do together to help build the party while building community, while enjoying refreshments and getting to know our Green neighbours!

What is an EDA?

An Electoral District Association is the primary local organizing unit of the Green Party of Prince Edward Island. EDAs play a critical role in activities like local community outreach, fundraising, and selecting and supporting candidates in elections. A strong EDA will lay the groundwork for the successful election of a Green MLA in District 12 - Charlottetown - Victoria Park.

A Coordinating Team must include the following roles (one individual may serve in more than one of these roles):

  • Chair - chairs meetings of the EDA, and helps coordinate EDA activities;
  • Financial Coordinator - in charge of accepting donations and approving spending on behalf of the EDA;
  • Communication Coordinator - in charge of communications with EDA members as well as external EDA communications with the public;
  • Data Coordinator - in charge of maintaining the EDA's membership information and properly inputting new contacts gathered by the EDA into the party database.

Everyone taking on any of these roles will receive training, support and access to tools from the party, so all that’s required is a willingness to make a difference in your community!

We require a quorum of at least 20 District 12 members for this meeting, so please RSVP if you can make it! Otherwise, write to Charlottetown Rep Josh Underhay at [email protected] if you can't come on May 16th, but you'd still like to be involved. Once officially formed, the EDA will be looking for volunteers of all skill sets. With all hands on deck, we CAN elect a Green MLA in District 12!
