March 18-19: Training Weekend
Following our General Meeting in November, the council has been discussing our plans for growth this year.
We are now working towards a large party conference in the late spring. As a key step towards making that conference a reality, there will be a 'Training for Trainers' weekend on March 18 & 19. We are seeking 15-20 enthusiastic volunteers who want to develop their skills in training others, facilitating meetings, and organizing teams. These skills are equally useful in your personal & professional life as they are in your political life. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to volunteer as a Trainer
Who? You! And 15-20 other fabulous Green volunteers.
What: Learn how to be an great trainer, facilitator, and team leader/organizer, to help build the Green Party on PEI!
When? Saturday March 18, 10am-4pm, and Sunday March 19, 1pm-4:30pm.
If you're driving from far East or West and would like to avoid unnecessary travel, we're happy to help connect you with another training participant who can host you overnight on Saturday.
Where? Hampton, PEI
Why? The PEI Green Party has an unprecedented opportunity to grow our volunteer base in 2017. Growing our organization will require leaders who are willing to work as a team to support others to participate. Our hope is that the cohort of trainers from this weekend will become organizers for our largest member-engagement event yet: our party conference in the late spring. We hope to engage 150 party members as volunteers who will start to work towards our success in the next provincial election.
How? Over the day-and-a-half, we'll be having five interactive, hands-on learning sessions, covering the following topics. These skills are equally useful in your professional life as they are in your political and voluntary work with the party, or other organizations.
1 - Experiential Education: what is it, how does it work?
2 - Community Organizing Theory & Practice: how to build the commitment required to build strong teams.
3 - Campaign Strategy: how to strategize, plan, and prioritize your actions, to achieve the goals you want!
4 - Facilitation and consensus decision-making: How to help groups make decisions with ease and confidence.
5 - Being a great host: designing exciting and effective agendas for meetings, trainings and events.
And what will we eat? It would be so fabulous if you wanted to contribute to lunch by bringing a potluck item to share.
Email Anna Keenan at email@example.com or call 902 978 1178 to let us know you'd like to come. We will send a preparation pack a few days ahead of the workshop, for you to read before we meet and start learning together.
