Green Party names Lynne Lund as candidate for Summerside-Wilmot by-election

Image1.jpgIt’s off to the races. Green Party is first out the gate with the announcement of candidate Lynne Lund in the upcoming Summerside-Wilmot by-election.

SUMMERSIDE: As Charlottetown hosts this Saturday’s Gold Cup and Saucer Race, another race is soon to be called for the P.E.I. riding of Summerside-Wilmot. A by-election date hasn’t been set but one candidate is officially in the running.

The Green Party of P.E.I. was the first to announce its candidate for the by-election this morning. Deputy Leader of the Green Party of P.E.I., Lynne Lund, says she will be running a full campaign in hopes of securing a second seat for the party.

 

“I’ve had a hand in developing some of our key policies and I am acutely aware of the need for more politicians who are willing to work collaboratively. ” 

Lynne is the mother of two boys and was previously the owner of a cloth diapering business servicing Summerside that operated on the island for 5 years. She is active on several community boards and is well known from her federal political run in 2015.

“We have one exceptional Green MLA and I hope that residents of Summerside-Wilmot will entrust me with their vote. We can get a lot more done with two of us in the Legislature.” 

Peter Bevan-Baker, the Green Party’s only MLA in the province, has garnered high popularity since being elected into the Legislature in 2015. Bevan-Baker was named as the second choice for best leader, just 11 points behind Premier MacLauchlan according to the latest Corporate Research Associates polling data.

“Lynne is the perfect representative for this area. She has a very deep understanding of the issues, she is hardworking and I know she would be an exceptional MLA for Summerside-Wilmot,” said Bevan-Baker.

The Green Party will be hosting a meet & greet with Peter and Lynne, this Friday evening at 7 pm at Bites Cafe in Hampton. The event is open to the public. .

The Greens expect the byelection to be called for the end of September or early October.
