Helene Larouche was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in a French Canadian family of seven children. Helene moved to PEI from British Columbia twenty years ago. It was a perfect rural setting to raise her son in, offering safety and a sense of community. Helene has made Blooming Point her home, and it is from this island homestead that she has gotten to know the community which surrounds her. She has made it a point to involve herself in matters that not only affect her, but also the people around her.

Helene has never been afraid to reach out with a helping hand to people in need from all walks of life in her neighborhood, and has also received, many times, the invaluable help and advice of those very same neighbors. After 33 years of service with Canada Post, Helene has recently retired. At this stage in her life she would like to give back to her community and the people of Prince Edward Island, by devoting her time and energy to becoming an active representative of the Green Party of PEI.

Helene’s many interests extend to the arts where she has pursued such creative projects as painting on silk, playing the fiddle, and pottery. She has always had an incredible love of nature, and prefers to be outdoors as much as possible. She likes to garden, hike, walk, bike, kayak, and cross country ski. She considers herself a guardian of nature and animals and wants to ensure that the beauty we have remains this way. Helene was a health and safety officer at Canada Post for several years and has always had a profound interest in health management and natural preventative medicine. 

Helene is proud to be part of the global Green movement that includes Green parties in more than 80 countries with elected representatives in some 30 countries.
