Donald Killorn

District 6 Stratford - Kinlock

Donald Killorn

Donald Killorn was born and raised on Prince Edward Island, earning a B.Sc. in Biology from UPEI. After graduating in 2004, Donald moved to Costa Rica where he worked in the rainforest as a tour guide. He went on to build a successful ecotourism business in the marine environments of the Turks and Caicos Islands. In 2010 Donald left the tourism industry to pursue non-governmental marine conservation in the country of Belize. Today Donald divides his time between PEI and Belize where he is the Director of the Tobacco Caye Marine Station located on a five acre coral island in the Belize Barrier Reef. Donald teaches Belizean schoolchildren about the nature of marine ecology, and the importance of conservation. He also facilitates research and provides marine ecology expertise to international students and conservation groups.

Donald has chosen to support the Green Party because his vision for the future of Prince Edward Island is congruent with the Global Green Charter. Donald’s most urgent concern is the health of the Island’s watersheds. He hopes to make education a central focus of his campaign. Education is the first step towards change, and the people of Prince Edward Island must understand what is causing their rivers to die before they can stand up and put an end to it. The implementation of proportional representation is also important to Donald. Only when the PEI legislature accurately reflects the voting interests of Islanders will the province truly unlock the power of democracy.

Donald understands that a healthy island is a successful island. Health care costs diminish, tourism revenues and the tax base increases, along with quality of life, when the air is clean, the water is clear, and the soil is natural. There is only one party with a sustainable vision for the future of Prince Edward Island, and so on October 3rd, Donald will stand for election, representing the Green Party in his home district of Stratford-Kinlock.
