Allieanna Ballagh

A first year student at UPEI, Allieanna is bursting with energy and ready to take on every challenge facing her generation.  She has been a supporter of the Green Party since even as a young girl, standing behind them by recording radio commercials to motivate voters. Born and raised on this beautiful island she has been very involved in her community and school, raising money for those affected by natural disasters, performing in benefit concerts, and as a member of Students Against Drunk Driving at Bluefield High School.

As a young woman, Allieanna feels honoured to be part of the Green Party campaign and believes she is setting an example of one of the party’s core values. Equal opportunity for all ages, races, abilities, and genders is a big part of the change Allieanna wants to see. In order for a society to prosper, co-operation, understanding, sharing, and fair opportunities are needed and that is a goal she hopes she can help make attainable.

Allieanna was inspired to become more involved after taking a Political Science class in high school where she gained a deeper understanding of how the political system works. She believes other parties have been given long enough to prove themselves and show what they have to offer, and that now it is the Green Party’s time to shine.  She is seeing a tremendous amount of support from her generation for the Greens and feels young people are ready for a change.

Whether it’s taking public transit to and from school, walking to work, or eating locally grown foods, Allieanna does all that she can to lessen her impact on the planet. She understands there are many obstacles ahead in these uncertain times, but believes if we co-operate as a society and if everyone takes simple steps towards making positive change there is truly nothing stopping us from creating a healthier environment and happier communities.
